Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 August 2026.
This is the privacy policy for the x.com side of MediaWipeTool, at x.mediawipetool.com. It is a tool that tells you which third parties hold copies of x.com content and prepares the requests you send to get them removed. This policy is written to be checkable: nearly everything below is a property the software cannot violate rather than a promise about how we behave.
Who we are
This site is operated at x.mediawipetool.com by the operators of mediawipetool.com. You can reach us at contact@mediawipetool.com. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by X Corp.
What we collect
- Server logs. Like every website, our server records the requests it receives: the time, your IP address, the page you asked for, and the identifying string your browser sends. This exists so a fault can be told from an attack. It is kept for about a month, then deleted automatically.
- A record that the program started, stopped, or failed. Three kinds of line, all of them about the software rather than about anyone using it. Also kept for about a month.
That is the complete list. There is no third item.
What we do not collect
- No account, so no password and no email address. There is nothing here to sign in to. We never ask for your X password and could not use it.
- No cookies. None at all, for any purpose. Nothing on this site identifies your browser from one visit to the next.
- No record of what you looked at. Beyond the request log above, nothing notes which pages you read, which services you checked, or which requests you prepared.
- No contact with anyone about you. Not X, not the Internet Archive, not any other service named on this site. The software contains no ability to make such a request.
- No profile. We read nothing about you, so there is nothing to draw a conclusion from.
- No analytics and no trackers. No analytics service, no tracking pixel, and no third-party script on any page. Your browser is instructed to refuse them, and the fonts are served from our own server so that loading them cannot hand your address to anyone else.
Our Reddit tool is a separate service
MediaWipeTool also has a Reddit side at mediawipetool.com. It is a separate service with its own account, its own sign-in and its own privacy policy, which is the one that applies there. Its cookies are fixed to that address and are never sent here, and this site sets none of its own, so nothing connects what you do on one with what you do on the other. If you use both, you use them separately, and that is deliberate.
Links to other services
This tool works by giving you links. When you follow one, you go to that service directly and it sees your browser and your address, exactly as it would if you had typed its name in yourself. We are not told that you clicked, and we never see what it showed you. Those services are run by other people under their own privacy policies, and we are not affiliated with any of them.
We do not sell your data. To anyone, ever. There are no data brokers and no ad networks involved in this site. Some of the services this tool helps you write to are data brokers, which is precisely why the tool exists.
Donations
If you choose to donate, you leave this site for a payment provider (such as PayPal, Ko-fi, or Buy Me a Coffee). We receive no card details and keep no donor record. There is no account on this site, so a donation cannot be linked to one. Those providers have their own privacy policies.
How long we keep things
The request log and the program's own start, stop and failure lines are kept for about a month, then deleted automatically. Nothing else is kept at all, so there is nothing else to retain or delete. There is no account to close.
Your choices
Because we hold nothing about you, there is nothing to request a copy of and nothing to ask us to delete. If you believe otherwise, or want the request log entries from your address removed, write to contact@mediawipetool.com and we will look.
Security
The site is served only over an encrypted connection. The largest part of our security posture here is how little there is to protect: no accounts, no passwords, no database, and a program that cannot leave anything behind on the machine it runs on.
Children
This service is intended for adults managing their own online footprint. It is not directed at children. If you are a minor and intimate images of you are being shared without your consent, there is help that needs no account.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. Because we keep so little, most changes here will be to say so more clearly rather than to collect anything new.
